Our family dental practice
Dr. Kyle Hale started the Veterans Smile Day at his offices in 2019 with the help and support of the Greater Houston Dental Society (GHDS). The idea for this started when Dr. Hale bought his dental office in 2017. He discovered that veterans must have 100% disability to be qualified for covered dental care. Even then, the care was only available at VA hospitals and those doctors that are part of the Veterans Choice Program, which Dr. Hale quickly joined after a lengthy application process.
The fact that the VA will not cover the dental care for veterans and their families after the sacrifices they have made was mind blowing to Dr. Hale. After 2 years of working hard to get advanced procedures covered by the VA through the Veterans Choice Program and getting dozens of denials he decided to take matters into his own hands. Thats the spark starting our Veterans Smiles event.
